DOK.forum – The industry platform of DOK.fest

A focus on the future of documentary filmmaking!

Like DOK.fest Munich, the industry platform DOK.forum cannot take place in the usual form due to the corona virus. But DOK.forum has never been more important than it is today: Due to the current exceptional situation, many filmmakers are facing existential problems. This makes it all the more important for them to continue networking and training. This is why DOK.forum - like DOK.fest München - is being held in digital form this year.

The DOK.forum programme will be streamlined, as not all events can be transferred to the digital space. Nevertheless, we still see it as our task for the industry to offer you high-quality industry events this year and to support projects in the development process. Since some filmmakers are currently in financial straits, participation will be free of charge.

DOK.forum sees itself as a think tank for the documentary film industry and as a platform for projects in the development process, and this year we want to fulfil this task again.

For this reason, DOK.forum Perspectives, with its digital panels and workshops, invites you to develop visions and impulses and to make use of the opportunities offered by digitization. This year, the DOK.forum Marketplace, as an online co-production and ideas market, offers for the realization of new documentary film projects.

In recent years, DOK.forum has established itself as a permanent meeting place for the German-speaking industry – and this year it is going online – and continues to grow with an increasing range of offers for international filmmakers.

Insights & Visions

Open exchange and new ideas for the documentary film industry are more important than ever before - with our formats Travelling Docs and Playground Documentary we are overcoming closed borders and bringing the European industry together to continue to exchange and learn from each other.

DOK.digital

DOK.digital, the prize for new narrative formats, seeks answers to the question of how facts and stories will be told in a networked world in the future. The five nominated projects will be presented at DOK.forum @home.

Film & talk

DOK.forum sees itself as an interface between the interested public and the industry. In the Film & Talk section of the programme, festival visitors are literally networked with the filmmakers and students this year, with extensive Q&As.
