As always, DOK.fest München opens the view out to the world: with 130 of the best and most current international documentaries from 55 countries. Our goal is the greatest possible participation in our films, which is why we bring them to the big screen in Munich cinemas as well as to home screens throughout Germany: DOK.fest stays dual.
FEMINISM WTF (Austria 2023, Katharina Mueckstein). Everything that people need to know right now about feminism, gender diversity and sex!
FRAUEN IN LANDSCHAFTEN (Germany 2023, Sabine Michel). Petry, Schwesig, Magwas and Domscheit-Berg: four female politicians with their roots in the east on the reunification of Germany and the role of women.
FÜR IMMER – FOR EVER (Germany 2023, Pia Lenz). Together for 70 years: Eva and Dieter’s love story is far from the likes of Tinder & Co.

WIR WAREN KUMPEL – ONCE WE WERE PITMEN (Germany, Switzerland 2023, Christian Johannes Koch, Jonas Matauschek). “Glück auf!” – five miners complete their final shifts and head into their new lives.
DOK.horizonte Competition – Cinema of Urgency
The films in this series tell stories from countries in transition. They are supported by ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL with funds from the BMZ and are nominated for the VIKTOR DOK.horizonte Competition, endowed with 5,000 euros. The award donor is the Petra-Kelly-Stiftung.
AGAINST THE TIDE (France, India 2023, Sarvnik Kaur). Friendship in a world where tradition meets globalisation: the story of the Indian Koli fishermen Ganesh and Rakesh.
ALONE (Iran 2022, Jafar Najafi). Amir’s lonely struggle to save his sisters from the shackles of patriarchy.
BAGHDAD ON FIRE (Iraq, Norway 2023, Karrar Al-Azzawi). “Nobody is the leader in this youth revolution!” – Tiba fights for a free Iraq.
DORPIE (Germany, South Africa 2022, Julia Jaki). A portrait of Lana, a community worker in South Africa, and her mission to prevent rape and murder.
ETILAAT ROZ – Eröffnungsfilm – THE ETILAAT ROZ (Afghanistan 2022, Abbas Rezaie). Kabul's downfall in august 2021 – a dramatic chamber play in the editorial offices of the newspaper Etilaat Roz.
