Freya Hattenberger

Freya Hattenberger, born 1978, agrees that vague ideas must be confronted with clear images. As graduate from Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln with priorities on media art and video she also attended the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam for a postgraduate Master of Fine Arts. She received the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff bursary and the NRW prize for emerging artists in media art. Further scholarships and multiple residencies were held in France. Body and (social) space are the central aspects of her work. Freya is interested in questions of art and autonomy. In addition to her art projects, her field of work includes documentary forms of the auditive as well as essays and features for the radio (Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln).
