Picasso's Guernica is brought to life in 14 Episodes. Depicting the horrors of the two Russian-Chechen wars in little over eight minutes, during the course of the film we see resistance fighters, a bus full of women and children destroyed, blood, death, torn-metal and madness. Though remaining impartial, this is a visual slap round the face. The war is shown in all its atrocity and senseless brutality. The director risked his life to make the film and two of the camera men were killed: One in Baghdad, in a separate crisis and the other by the socalled 'death squads' for his truthful coverage of the Chechen war. A film truly deserving of its many awards.
