Retrospective Andres Veiel
Andres Veiel is considered one of Germany's most distinguished documentary filmmakers. At DOK.fest 2016 we will present Veiel's feature-length documentary film as well as his only fiction film.
The private is political and the opposite also applies: political developments are always shaped by personal circumstances. With this in mind, Andres Veiel’s work is able to get to the crux of his subject matter. No other German filmmaker locates the
biographies of individual people so firmly in the context of the society that they originate from.
The educated psychologist is no stranger to the depths of humanity. The way he treats his protago nists and, above all, the quality of his interviews depend on both his knowledge of human nature and the empathy he has for his “heroes.”
Our retrospective presents Andres Veiel’s feature length documentaries, a theatre film and his only fiction film to date.
The director will personally introduce his films in Munich.
