Mona Klöckner

Mona Klöckner, formerly Hafez, is an anthropologist and freelance media educator. She studied anthropology and intercultural communication with a focus on visual anthropology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the Sorbonne Paris. During her studies, she completed an internship at Doc en Stock Paris, participated in the realization of several documentary films, and produced two of her own in India and France, which received recognition at international festivals: THE DALAI LAMA IN MIND, TIBET IN MY HEART (IN/FR 2008) and INVISIBLE NEIGHBORS (FR/DE 2009).
For Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, she taught a Summer School in Visual Anthropology at the University of Islamabad in 2012. Since then, she has been giving film workshops for children, teenagers, and young adults, especially for young refugees. Many of the films can be seen on her YouTube channel.
Mona Klöckner has been working at DOK.fest München since 2022 as a member of the DOK.education team. She heads the project NEXTUS – Learning by documentaries, the European film platform for educational institutions, and is involved in all areas of the year-round implementation of DOK.education – the School for the Art of Seeing, as well as the film education and film practice projects for teachers, school classes, and young people. Since October 2025, she is head of DOK.education together with Kathi Seemann.
