Dorothea Braun was born in 1984 in Eberbach on the Neckar. She trained in the tourism industry and worked there for several years. She studied cultural and social anthropology with focus on visual anthropology at Philipps University in Marburg, European ethnology at Humboldt University in Berlin, moved to Bolzano, Italy, where she studied directing and story development at documentary film school ZeLIG. She worked as author, researcher, sound recordist, director, camera- and production assistant on feature documentaries. Her documentary films TRANSITION BLU and HULITSCHKES ARCHE were screened at festivals in Italy and abroad. Since 2018 she has been working for the Frankfurt production company strandfilm as a producer. 2019 she founded her production house Dorothea Braun Film and is working as an author for documentaries too since then.
