Dr. Andreas Weinek

Dr. Andreas Weinek (55) has been Managing Director of The History Channel (Germany) GmbH & Co. KG since August 2005. He is responsible for the management of the German pay-TV channels HISTORY and A & E. The stations are operated from Munich in Germany, Austria and Switzerland under the roof of The History Channel (Germany) GmbH & Co KG by the American parent company A + E Networks.Weinek was until 1997 initially Marketing Director and later Deputy Managing Director of BMG Ariola Austria and Germany. He worked as a marketing director for Nickelodeon Germany before serving as Director Communications from 1998 to 2000 for Universal Studio Networks. Weinek was responsible for the successful launch and development of the two pay-TV channels 13th Street and Studio Universal. 

In the position of Deputy Managing Director and Marketing Director, Weinek established the pay-TV channel Fox Kids Germany until 2002 and from 2002 acted as independent media consultant for companies such as Telekom Austria or Swisscom. Dr. Andreas Weinek writes columns and reports, is a book author and musician in the band BlankWeinek founded by him.
