Monika Willi

Film director

Monika Willi has worked as a film editor since the 1990s, has received numerous awards for her editing work and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2010 she was awarded the Schnittpreis of the Filmstiftung NRW for the film Das weiße Band (Michael Haneke, 2010) and nominated for the German Film Award (Best Editing).
For Die Lebenden (Barbara Albert, 2012) she received the 2013 Austrian Film Award (Best Editing). In the same year she was nominated with Hanekes Amour (2013 for the César Bester Schnitt). Together with Claudia Linzer, she was awarded theSchnitt Prize for 2016 for Thank You for Bombing (Barbara Eder 2015). For this film, the two also received the Austrian Film Award 2017 in the category Best Cut. After Michael Glawogger died in Liberia during the filming of his film Untitled/2014, Monika Willi took over the material and thus created the film Untitled, which premiered at the Berlinale 2017 (awarded with the Vienna Film Award 2017, Best Cinematography (Graz / Diagonale), Best Documentary Film (Belgrade / Beldocs), German Camera Award Documentary/Documentary, Five Lakes Documentary Award (Starnberg), Special Mention (Mexico City/DocsMX).
