Like every year, DOK.fest München 2024 opens up a view of the world: with 109 of the best and most current international documentaries from 51 countries. Our aim is to ensure the greatest possible participation in our films, which is why we bring them to the big screen in Munich cinemas and cultural venues as well as to home screens throughout Germany as barrier-free as possible: DOK.fest München stays dual!

DOK.deutsch Wettbewerb

Intense stories and the unusual on one's own doorstep: the competition presents films that deal with people and topics in German-speaking countries. The VIKTOR DOK.deutsch Competition is endowed with 7,500 euros. The award is sponsored by Sky.

Student Award

The Student Award presents outstanding documentary films by students of German-speaking film schools. The films are nominated for the megaherz Student Award, worth 3,000 Euros.

Exchange at eye level. The festival's focus on Africa promotes the perception and representation of the African continent beyond short-lived headlines and stereotypes. The AFRICAN ENCOUNTERS focus on African documentaries and current film-aesthetics and social debates.

DAS LEERE GRAB – THE EMPTY GRAVE (Germany, Tanzania 2024, Agnes Lisa Wegner, Cece Mlay). A long overdue chapter is finally being written in the rehabilitation of German colonial history.
