kinokino Audience Award 2025 – sponsored by BR and 3sat

You voted on the festival films!

With the kinokino Audience Award – donated by BR and 3sat, you – the festival audience – could cast your vote on this year's festival films at DOK.fest München 2025. The name giver and media partner of the Audience Award is kinokino – Das Filmmagazin im Bayerischen Rundfunk | 3sat. The award is endowed with 2,000 euros, donated by BR, 3sat and DOK.fest München. Votes were cast from Wednesday, 7 May up to and including Thursday, 15 May 2024, with the final counting taking place on 16 May.

The winning film

The winner of the kinokino Publikumspreis is WRITING HAWA (Afghanistan, France, Netherlands, Qatar 2024, Najiba Noori & Rasul Noori, 84 min.)

When the Taliban regains power in Afghanistan, Najiba picks up the pieces of her film portrait of her mother in exile. Through Hawa’s story, we follow the wave of emancipation that had swept across the land. Though this now lies in tatters, women like Hawa will not relinquish what they have taught themselves: “To act changes everything.”
