Like every year, DOK.fest München 2024 opens up a view of the world: with 109 of the best and most current international documentaries from 51 countries. Our aim is to ensure the greatest possible participation in our films, which is why we bring them to the big screen in Munich cinemas and cultural venues as well as to home screens throughout Germany as barrier-free as possible: DOK.fest München stays dual!

DOK.international Main Competition

Slices of life, insights and perspectives: The films of the international competition open doors to new worlds for us. They compete for the VIKTOR DOK.international Main Competition, which is endowed with 10,000 euros. The award is sponsored by Bayerischer Rundfunk.

The Student Award presents outstanding documentary films by students of German-speaking film schools. The films are nominated for the megaherz Student Award, worth 3,000 Euros.

DOK.panorama shows innovative documentary films from all over the world mapping the diversity and current trends of documentary storytelling – including many new discoveries and premieres.

ETERNAL YOU – VOM ENDE DER ENDLICHKEIT (Germany, United States 2024, Hans Block, Moritz Riesewieck). Eternal life with AI. Start-ups are facilitating posthumous discussions between family members and the deceased.

Innovative cinema and intimate insights: The Best of Fests series brings together films that have already screened at other important festivals and have been celebrated or awarded with prizes there.
