The film programme of DOK.fest München. At the cinema. At home.
3 to 14 May 2023 at the Munich venues
8 to 21 May 2023 @home
As always, DOK.fest München opens the view out to the world: with 130 of the best and most current international documentaries from 55 countries. Our goal is the greatest possible participation in our films, which is why we bring them to the big screen in Munich cinemas as well as to home screens throughout Germany: DOK.fest stays dual.
FIRE OF LOVE (Canada, United States 2022, Sara Dosa, DOK.international Main Competition). A scientist couple and the world’s volcanoes – a story of life and love.
LEJOS DE CASA – FAR AWAY FROM HOME (Mexico 2022, Carlos Hernández Vázquez, DOK.horizonte Competition – Cinema of Urgency). In a shelter in Tijuana, children and young people dream of life in the USA.
I AM NOT (Israel 2021, Tomer Heymann, DOK.panorama). “I’m not all the labels you put on me.” One of which is Asperger’s, the other, adoptee.
TEOREMA DE TIEMPO (Mexico 2022, Andrés Kaiser, DOK.panorama). From his grandparents’ hoard of amateur films, Andrés Kaiser compiles a cinematic family history.
LO QUE QUEDA EN EL CAMINO – WHAT REMAINS ON THE WAY (Brazil, Germany, Mexico 2021, Jakob Krese, Danilo Do Carmo, BEST OF FESTS). The journey from Guatemala to the USA: salvation from violence at home?
DAS KURZE LEBEN DES JOSÉ ANTONIO GUTIERREZ (Germany, Switzerland 2006, Heidi Specogna, Homage Heidi Specogna). A green card soldier in the Iraq war: José Antonio Gutierrez died a hero, fighting for a foreign land.
