The film programme of DOK.fest München. At the cinema. At home.
3 to 14 May 2023 at the Munich venues
8 to 21 May 2023 @home
As always, DOK.fest München opens the view out to the world: with 130 of the best and most current international documentaries from 55 countries. Our goal is the greatest possible participation in our films, which is why we bring them to the big screen in Munich cinemas as well as to home screens throughout Germany: DOK.fest stays dual.
HOLGUT (Belgium 2021, Liesbeth De Ceulaer, DOK.international Main Competition). The myth of the Holgut mammoth: three men, two expeditions, the Yakutian landscape.
LAND (Germany 2020, Timo Großpietsch, DOK.international Main Competition). A journey into the countryside in science fiction images with symphonic composition. Eye-opening!
THE LAST HILLBILLY (France, Qatar 2020, Diane Sara Bouzgarrou, Thomas Jenkoe, DOK.international Main Competition). The last hillbilly and his family in the heart of the Appalachians. An abstract poetic look at forgotten America.
LIFE OF IVANNA (Estonia, Finland, Norway, Russian Federation 2021, Renato Borrayo Serrano, BEST OF FESTS). Icy isolation. A mother dreams of life beyond sub-zero temperatures.
WOOD – DER GERAUBTE WALD – WOOD: GAME-CHANGERS UNDER COVER (Austria, Germany, Romania 2020, Michaela Kirst, Monica Lazurean-Gorgan, Ebba Sinzinger, DOK.focus Empowerment). Illegal logging in and financed by European countries – a black market under the radar.
DER WILDE WALD (Germany 2021, Lisa Eder, Munich Premieres). Virgin forest at the heart of Europe. A declaration of love to an impressive landscape.
