The film programme of DOK.fest München. At the cinema. At home.
3 to 14 May 2023 at the Munich venues
8 to 21 May 2023 @home
As always, DOK.fest München opens the view out to the world: with 130 of the best and most current international documentaries from 55 countries. Our goal is the greatest possible participation in our films, which is why we bring them to the big screen in Munich cinemas as well as to home screens throughout Germany: DOK.fest stays dual.
THE ARK – FANG ZHOU (China 2020, Dan Wei, DOK.international Main Competition). A hospital room in the Chinese provinces becomes the setting for a family drama.
BORDERLANDS (India 2021, Samarth Mahajan, DOK.horizonte Competition – Cinema of Urgency). Between hope and fear: a kaleidoscope of stories from the Indian border regions.
MEIN VIETNAM – MY VIETNAM (Germany 2020, Hien Mai, Tim Ellrich, Student Award). To go back to Vietnam or to stay in Germany after 30 years? Home is more than just a place.
LIFE OF IVANNA (Estonia, Finland, Norway, Russian Federation 2021, Renato Borrayo Serrano, BEST OF FESTS). Icy isolation. A mother dreams of life beyond sub-zero temperatures.
WANDERING, A ROHINGYA STORY (Canada 2020, Mélanie Carrier, Olivier Higgins, BEST OF FESTS). Stagnation and the ghosts of the past. Everyday life in the world’s biggest refugee camp.
