Munich is the home of the filmmakers whose works are gathered together in the Munich premieres. But time and again, the view extends far beyond the city limits.

DIE NUMMER EINS – DEUTSCHLANDS GROSSE TORHÜTER – NUMBER ONE – GERMANY’S GREATEST GOALKEEPERS (Deutschland 2017, Gerhard Schick). Germany’s goalkeepers have been the envy of the football world for decades. DIE NUMMER EINS lets us re-live the unforgettable moments and scandals that have made legends of Oliver Kahn, Sepp Maier, Toni Schumacher, Jens Lehmann and Manuel Neuer.

EINEN SOMMER LANG (Deutschland 2017, Georg Michael Fischer). Walking 2,400 Kilometres in 50 days – from Munich to Istanbul. That’s the equivalent of one marathon per day. What begins as a crazy sporting venture for the amateur walker Denis turns into a long overdue examination of himself and his father.

MAXIM LEBEN – EIN ALTES KINO ERZÄHLT (Deutschland 2017, Peter Heller). From the late 1970s, under the direction of Sigi Daiber, the Maxim, one of Munich’s oldest cinemas, became a stronghold of alternative film culture and played a part in the beginnings of DOK.fest Munich. When the end of the venue seemed to be inevitable, four cinema enthusiasts reinvented the Maxim.
