THE FILM PROGRAMME OF DOK.fest MÜNCHEN @HOME
DOK.fest München 2021 @home came to a close on 23 May. 131 films from 43 countries were shown.
Here you can find an overview of all the films. The programme booklet can be viewed here.
PER SONG – DONGWU YUAN (China, Germany 2016, Shuchang Xie, Student Award). In poetic black and white PER SONG recounts a youth in China that has conquered the night in the voids of the megalopolis and dreams of its own future. A delicate, moving ballad about love, pain and everything.
ALL THESE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS (Poland, United Kingdom 2016, Michał Marczak, DOK.panorama). Kris and Michał drift through Warsaw. They dance with the hottest women. This is the summer of love reloaded. Poetry and theory – does friendship have any limits? A question, an encounter, cool electro beats. In your mid-twenties a lost weekend is never a lost weekend.
BOYS IN WOLVE'S CLOTHING – PAS COMME DES LOUPS (France 2016, Vincent Pouplard, DOK.panorama). Roman and Sifredi position themselves outside of society. They don’t want any part in it; they actually don’t want any part in anything. To be free, that’s what the twins want. Without any commitments they live a wild life among nature on the outskirts of the city.
DENK ICH AN DEUTSCHLAND IN DER NACHT – IF I THINK OF GERMANY AT NIGHT (Germany 2017, Romuald Karmakar, DOK.panorama). Five pioneers of electronic music embody an entire subculture in Romuald Karmakar’s portrait. The use of sound from the DJs headphones allows us to experience what otherwise remains secret: the art behind the operation of the mixing desk controls.
LOVETRUE (United States 2016, Alma Har'el, DOK.panorama). Three young people in different corners of the USA reflect on their ideas about love. Reality and the inner lives of the protagonists intertwine in an intoxicating flow of images and we get lost in the delightful magic of performance and music.
THE WAR SHOW (Finland 2016, Andreas Dalsgaard, Obaidah Zytoon, DOK.panorama). A very personal film about the beginnings of the Arab revolution in Syria – filmed as a video diary by the radio presenter Obaidah Zytoon and her friends. Initial euphoria ultimately gives way to total hopelessness. A shocking document.
THIS IS ATOMIC LOVE (Germany 2016, Heike Schuffenhauer, Marc Seibold, DOK.music - Open Air). At long last a film about the legendary Munich indie club, “The Atomic Café.” Here in front of its iconic glittery backdrop local bands, such as Sportfreunde Stiller, as well as international groups and DJs created unforgettable nights of music for almost 18 years. This film is a declaration of love.
