Maya Reichert

Since autumn 2025, Maya Reichert has been Deputy Festival Director of DOK.fest München, supporting Adele Kohout in the festival’s management and artistic direction. After studying at the University of Television and Film Munich, she worked for many years as an academic artistic associate and was actively involved in teaching and higher education policy. She served for six years on the Federal Government’s Film Funding Committee at the Ministry of Culture and Media and is a founding board member of the German Association for Film Education (AG Filmvermittlung). Maya Reichert has been part of the festival since 2009 and took over the leadership of DOK.education, the festival’s film education department, in 2013. She developed programmes such as the “School of Seeing” and the international platform Nextus, opening up innovative approaches to film education. Under her leadership, DOK.education has grown into one of the largest documentary film education programmes in the German-speaking world, reaching more than 8,000 schoolchildren every year. She brings her longstanding focus on film education into her new leadership role and is also active as a lecturer in the field of education.
