Adele Kohout

Artistic direction and management, programme selection, industry focus

Adele Kohout is the festival director of DOK.fest Munich since October 2025, taking over the roles of artistic director and manager. She studied art history and modern history, with a focus on film, in Düsseldorf and Zurich, before completing a Master's degree in Cultural History and Cultural Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigsburg in 2010. She gained practical experience working as an assistant director at Czech Television in Prague, as well as in project management at the Brooklyn Museum and the Postmaster Gallery in New York. She has worked for DOK.fest Munich since 2008, initially in public relations and, since 2010, as assistant to the festival director. In this role, she has been responsible for tasks in the areas of financing, project coordination, programme design, sponsorship and partner communication. From 2015 to 2017, she managed the Kunstareal München office strategically. Returning to DOK.fest Munich, she co-directed the festival alongside Daniel Sponsel, playing a key role in its organisational and conceptual development.
