Jury documentary film competition for young people 2023

The documentary film award for young people is sponsored by BLLV, the bavarian association of teachers, and endowed with 1,100 euros in total.

Dr. Johannes Wende

Vice president, HFF München

Johannes Wende is Vice-President of the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München and a research assistant in the Department of Media Studies. He studied directing film and television drama at the HFF and did his doctorate on the subject of "Death in Feature Films". For several years he was the editor of the magazine "Film-Konzepte" at the publishing house etk and a lecturer at the Bauhaus University Weimar, the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding in Munich and the International Film School in Cologne.

Anna de Paoli

Filmproducer, Film macht Schule

Anna de Paoli is a film producer in Berlin and seeks with her production company Schattenkante for the "crack in reality". With her strengths in development, casting and distribution, she produced films that were presented at festivals worldwide, won awards and has been shown in cinemas. She is currently working on the feature film BEAUTY 뷰티 in co-production with South Korea.

Anna is also a teaching at the der Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF and is co-founder of FILM MACHT SCHULE. The initiative Film macht Schule enables children and young people to discover film as an art form in exchange with professional filmmakers.

Julian Janssen

Presenter, KiKA/ARD

Julian Janssen is known as Checker Julian since 2018. For the same-named childrens' TV-show, which is broadcasted at KiKA as well as ARD and produced by Megaherz GmbH, he investigates topics for children and asks questions like: How do you build a rollercoaster? How does a submarine dive down and up again? How can astronauts walk on the moon? After highschool, Julian studied Media Science and Media Practice and German Philology. He started gaining experciences as a host at the university radio station and tried acting in small film projects as well as on stage as a theatre actor. Explaining topics as entertaining and coherent as possible – that's the job of Julian's dreams. For the DOK.education documentary film competition, he is on the jury for the second year and also offers the workshop on Sprechen vor der Kamera in May.

Julia Skupin Jury 2023

Julia Skupin

Junior Assistent Film, Filmmaker

Julia Skupin started making films at an early age and made short films with her classmates throughout her school career. In 2020, she completed the Junior Assistenz Film Ausbildung, where she acquired important basic knowledge and approaches to the various film genres. In 2021, she took part in the Filmtage bayerischer Schulen for the first time, which she also accompanied as a presenter. Presentations at film festivals such as Aufblende 2022 and the 45th Filmtage followed. Since graduating from high school in 2022, Julia has been working as a photo and video assistant at a marketing agency. In September she will begin her training as a media designer for image/sound.

Monika Faltermeier

Chairwoman, Young BLLV

Monika Faltermeier is chairwoman of Junger BLLV, the federation of Bavarian teachers. She is a highschool teacher and works at Marie-Pettenbeck school in Wartenberg. Monika is especially interested in supporting the development of her students as well as collaborating with other young and motivated teachers. Monika Faltermeier is on the jury for the DOK.education documentary film competition for the second year.
