In 2018, I was one of the two residents of the DOK.network Africa with my project that would later become LE SPECTRE DE BOKO HARAM. I already knew DOK.fest München by reputation through Barbara Off‘s actions in Africa, but I‘ve never been to Germany before. My very first trip to Germany was offered by DOK.fest. I arrived in Munich during the winter. As our plane flew over the snowy forest near the airport, I felt like I was flying over the Northern Kingdom of Game of Thrones on the back of a dragon. I spent ten wonderful weeks of cultural immersion in Munich. I was able to work with our mentors Daniel Lang and Jan Sebening with unlimited access to HFF resources. Our last week was devoted to the festival. I will always remember the opening film OVER THE LIMIT by Marta Prus, and THE DISTANT BARKING OF DOGS by Simon Lereng Wilmont, which depicts a war zone from the point of view of children. In 2023, LE SPECTRE DE BOKO HARAM won the DOK.horizonte Award at DOK.fest München. In 2024, I presented my next documentary at the DOK.forum Master`s Pitch.
