A tribute to great filmmakers

Personal Memoriams

This programme selection does not approach remembrance as a quiet retrospective, but as a vivid dialogue. Each evening is dedicated to a late figure from the world of documentary filmmaking – curated and hosted by a person who has a close professional or personal connection to them. The focus lies on a selected film from the filmmaker‘s oeuvre, complemented by a conversation that offers behind-the-scenes insights and brings the creative process to life. In this way, the result is not a static monument, but a lively exchange: an exploration of attitude, experience, and cinematic thinking that resonates in the present and opens up new horizons.
With Rosa von Praunheim, Frederick Wiseman, and Georg Stefan Troller, the programme commemorates three filmmakers who not only shaped documentary film but also expanded our view of the world through their unique perspectives.
