Julia Zantl

Head of Industry Platform DOK.forum

Julia Zantl has been head of DOK.forum since November 2025 and is thus responsible for the content and strategic development of the DOK.fest Munich industry platform. Together with her team, she designs the two central programs of DOK.forum: the Marketplace and Perspectives.
While studying for her master's degree in ethnology, international political science, and religious studies in Munich and Paris, she regularly worked on film and television projects. Formative stages in her career included positions at renowned production companies such as interscience film in Berlin (Gero von Boehm) and Doc en stock in Paris (Daniel Leconte), before she worked as a freelance filmmaker, primarily for public television. Since 2022, she has been co-directing the audience:first storytelling lab at Drehbuchwerkstatt München with Matthias Leitner (BR) and is also a member of various selection committees, including Thomas Riedelsheimer's dok.art program.
