DOK.education: The film for 7- to 12-year-olds

With MARIAN UND DIE WALDRAPPE, students watch a short film suitable for their age group and learn background information and interesting facts about the topic and the film's production in an interview with the filmmaker. Film educators demonstrate how the film's stylistic devices work and trigger emotions. In this way, children learn to decipher film language and are motivated to apply this to their own everyday media use. This helps them become critical and self-aware media users. With Schule de Sehens by DOK.education we show valuable documentaries that tell stories from the lives of young people on an equal footing and with artistic merit.

Teachers have access to comprehensive supporting material for preparing and following up on the film. The educational programme accompanying the film MARIAN AND THE WALDRAPPE is written in simple language and is therefore suitable for primary schools, lower secondary schools and special needs classes.

Schule des Sehens is only offered in German language. Please switch to the German website for more information.

MARIAN UND DIE WALDRAPPE

Bernadette Hauke, Italy, Austria, Germany 2019, 25 min.

Marian recognizes them all by their feathers and singing: the blue tit, the goldfinch, and even the bald ibis. This rare find in his home region of South Tyrol strengthens Marian's passion for birds. The 12-year-old sets out to search for traces of the already extinct wild bird and learns about an inspiring European species conservation project.
