MAÏA PLISSETSKAÏA ASSOLUTA
Frankreich 2002 – Director: Elisabeth Kapnist – Co-Director: Christian Dumais-Lvowski – Original language: russisch, französisch – Subtitles: English – Length: 58 min.
Maïa Plissetskaïa: her name is inseparable from the history of the Soviet Ballet. She was the “ballerina assoluta” of the Bolschoi theatre, which she danced with for almost fifty years. Maïa Plissetskaia left her imprint on the art of dance in the 20th century. Her resistance against the Stalinist regime led to severe travelling restrictions against her. At an age when most ballerinas retire, she started a second career and turned to modern dance. She worked with Maurice Béjart and Roland Petit and did choreographies of Russian works of literature. With her interpretation of the “Bolero” she gained world fame.
"I lived for dance, I never gave up." Maïa Plissetskaïa
