Biography
Born in 1921 to Jewish parents in Vienna, Georg Stefan Troller fled from the Nazis to USA at the age of 17. After the war, he briefly returned to his home country before going back to USA between 1946 and 1949 to study firstly English in Los Angeles followed by theatre in New York. In 1949, Troller settled in Paris and became a radio reporter for RIAS. From the 1950s, he increasingly worked in television. “Pariser Journal,” which he produced from 1962 for WDR, became legendary. The ZDF series “Personenbeschreibungen,” made by Troller from 1972 onwards, received numerous awards. In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Georg Stefan Troller was also an author. Known for his talent to ask questions, his work generated countless interviews, often with well-known personalities.
