Deutschland 2026 – Director: Wim Wenders, King Ampaw – Original language: Other – Subtitles: None – Length: 90 min.
Sunday, 10 May, 7.30 p.m., HFF - Audimax
Since 2013, DOK.fest Munich has been focusing on exchange between filmmakers from the African and European continents through its “African Encounters” programme. The format is unique in Germany. This year, in collaboration with the University of Television and Film (HFF) Munich and Ghanaian curator Jacqueline Nsiah, a special encounter is taking place: Wim Wenders meets the Ghanaian filmmaker King Ampaw. Both are graduates of the first cohort of the HFF Munich from 1967. At their reunion, they will each present a film from their student days. They will also engage in a cross-generational dialogue with current students Kokutekeleza Musebeni (HFF Munich) and Joanna Adu-Amoani (UniMAC-IFT, Accra / Ghana) on film, film education then and now, building bridges between Africa and Europe, and the power of cinema.
The event will be moderated by Jacqueline Nsiah. DOK.fest Munich is organising this special event in collaboration with the International Office of the HFF Munich as part of the ‘African Dialogues’ exchange programme between the HFF Munich and the UniMAC Film School in Accra.
