For school classes: Schule des Sehens – Understanding documentary films
as part of ZWICKL.dokumentarfilmfestival Schwandorf
Through the Schule des Sehens, students discover documentary film as an art form and learn to analyze images critically. In a 90-minute workshop at the cinema, they watch an age-appropriate short film that portrays the lives of young people from their perspective and with artistic integrity.
Guided by film educator Mona Klöckner, the students work in groups on visual exercises related to the film’s content and style. They explore how cinematic techniques work and evoke emotions—and in doing so, gain new perspectives on their own media use.
Teachers have access to comprehensive supporting materials for preparing for and following up on the film. The educational program accompanying the film MARIAN UND DIE WALDRAPPE is written in simple language and is therefore suitable for elementary schools, the lower grades of secondary schools, and special education classes.

Bernadette Hauke is a freelance writer and director. Her work focuses on nature, the environment, and society. She particularly enjoys working on film projects for children and works as a producer for Pangolin Doxx Film.
