Gerel has a mission: she wants to protect her motherland Mongolia from China’s influence. She founds an ultra-nationalistic feminist women’s group that takes action against Mongolian prostitutes and their Chinese punters. The single mother even neglects her son in pursuit of her political goals. Eventually, in search of inner peace, Gerel turns away from hatred and towards her culture and family. Barbara Off

 

Biography

Danish directors Kristoffer Juel Poulsen and Christian Als are both experienced and award-winning photojournalists. DAUGHTER OF GENGHIS is their first feature-length documentary film. Als has worked as a photographer and filmmaker worldwide for Danish and international media with a focus on war and crisis areas. 

 

Nominated for the DOK.horizonte Competition – Cinema of Urgency

The films in this series tell stories from countries in transition. They are supported by ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL with funds from the BMZ and are nominated for the VIKTOR DOK.horizonte Competition, endowed with 5,000 euros. The award donor is the Petra-Kelly-Stiftung.
