The imagination of two sisters growing up here enchants the apparently mundane world of beeping, flashing machines in a Chinese skyscraper. Qinyuan Lei
Qinyuan Lei is a scholar and documentary filmmaker. She earned her PhD from the Department of East Asian Studies at Princeton University in 2018. She currently works as a lecturer at the School of Design, Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen, China. In addition to her academic work, she lives between Berlin and Shenzhen as a documentary film director. THE ONE WHO RUNS AWAY IS THE GHOST is her feature film debut.
