BATATA

Libanon, Kanada 2021 – Director: Noura Kevorkian – English subtitles, Q&A Noura Kevorkian (dir.) & Paul Scherzer (prod.) – Zoom

Since she was eleven years old, Maria has been planting and harvesting potatoes in Lebanon and spending the winter months in her homeland of Syria. Maria dreams of having her own family – but first there is the revolution, then the war and the place where she works becomes a refugee camp. The film shows how Maria’s dreams diminish while hope for peace in Syria remains. Katharina Dolles
