Documentary Film as Cultural Practice in the Digital Age? In these Input Talks the future of documentary film as a cultural practice in the digital age will be discussed. Questions about the role of politics, funding structures and festivals in rethinking cinema culture are posed and attempted to be answered.

Lars Henrik Gass
Leiter (Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen)

Since 1997 he has been director of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. He publishes essays, reviews, and lectures on film, photography, and cultural and film-political topics, and has taught on film and cultural management. He is co-editor of "Provokation der Wirklichkeit. Das Oberhausener Manifest und die Folgen" (2012) and "after youtube. Gespräche, Portraits, Texte zum Musikvideo nach dem Internet" (2018) and author of the books "Das ortlose Kino. Über Marguerite Duras" (2001), "Film und Kunst nach dem Kino" (2012/2017, in English 2019) and "Filmgeschichte als Kinogeschichte. Eine kleine Theorie des Kinos" (2019). He is also a co-founder of the AG Kurzfilm and of the AG Filmfestival, the association of German film festivals.

Dr. Thorolf Lipp

Studies of ethnology, sociology and religious studies. Several years field research in Africa and Oceania. As a cultural anthropologist, Lipp has always been interested in questions of has always been interested in questions of homeland, cultural heritage and customs. Since 1995 author and producer of more than 20 TV documentaries and documentaries, often on ethnological topics. 2000 Foundation of Arcadia Film Production. Lipp is active in the cultural sector in many functions in the cultural sector, among others: Board member of AG DOK; former spokesman of the German Media Council; Member of the "Media" and "Cultural Heritage" committees of the German Cultural Council; Spokesman of the Spokesman for the Advisory Board of the Kulturwerk BG III of VG Bild-Kunst.
