Student Award

The films submitted in 2019 for the Student Award made one thing clear: here is a generation that captures the screen with a fresh and radical take on the world.

Österreich, Deutschland 2019 – Director: Jan Prazak – Original language: English – Subtitles: German

Alex lives as a hermit in Ireland and spends his days in the company of the animals he shares his home with. He lovingly takes care of injured sea birds. Alex doesn’t speak much about his earlier life but, little by little, we get to know the background to his radical lifestyle.

We present the world premiere of the film at DOK.fest München 2019.

Schweiz, Spanien 2018 – Director: Alejandro Perez – Original language: Spanish – Subtitles: English

An island in the glittering sunlight, a cabin to live in, olive trees, water and wind. A wonderfully enigmatic short film about the dream of a simple life. A cine-poem that asks the question: is less more?
