The 74th Filmkunstwochen München, the summer festival of local arthouse cinemas, is taking place again – from 22 July to 12 August in and around Munich. DOK.fest München will also be a guest in 2026 with several festival films.
MEANWHILE IN NAMIBIA won one of the three main awards at this years festival: the VIKTORIA in the DOK.deutsch competition.
Director Jonas Spriestersbach will be attending.

Although Germany acknowledges the genocide of the Herero and Nama in German South West Africa, it offers development aid rather than paying reparations. In his episodic film shot in Namibia, Jonas Spriesterbach observes his surroundings with keen attention and captures powerful images that reveal the alarming extent of structural inequality and racism. Biography
Jonas Spriestersbach initially studied visual coommunication in Kassel, before going on to study cinematography at the HFF Munich. Following his graduation film TIERE (DOK.fest 2019), MEANWHILE IN NAMIBIA marks his directorial debut.
