ALS HEDWIG IN DEN RHEIN FIEL
Deutschland 2006 – Director: Matthias vom Schemm – Original language: German – Length: 23 min.
In Duisburg at the end of the 1920s Hedwig and her brother and sister, Walter and Hilde, were messing around on a plank of wood that stretched between a wall of the harbour and a ship. Suddenly Hedwig fell between the wall and the boat into the river Rhine. Luckily she was saved and the story became a family legend.
Over 70 years later the siblings still remember clearly, but also very differently, their childhoods in Duisburg harbour: their parents and their grandparents; the difficulties of their upbringings and the corporal punishment they received. As far as Hilde is concerned: "our parents never hit us", but Walter recalls "our mother would smack me with a hand brush like she was hitting old iron."
Independently from each other and without restraint Hedwig, Walter and Hilde casually offer their personal accounts of the time. The tale of when Hedwig fell into the Rhine leads to a set of fascinating orals histories in which the brother and sisters grant us extremely vivid insights into their relationships with each other and into their own individual personalities.

DER BÄCKER WAR'S
Deutschland 2006 – Director: Felix Hassenfratz – Original language: German – Subtitles: English – Length: 20 min.
A brutal bank robbery in the small town of Siegelsbach in South West Germany left one witness dead and two others badly injured. The locals could hardly believe it when the finger of blame was pointed at the town's baker, but as the days went by more and more evidence seemed to incriminate the local businessman, Alfred B. He was in debt; he was a wannabe hunter who spent more time in the forest than in the bakery, and had attacked innocent walkers. Without any disguise he had walked into the bank and shot the cashier – and all for 30,000 Euros. People who knew him, customers, neighbours - everyone had heard or seen something. As rumours spread, so grew the townspeople's opinions and beliefs on the matter and all doubts were eliminated. That is until the trial, in which B. was found not guilty – guess what? The baker didn't do it.
English/Original Title: The Baker Did It. Camera: Felix Hassenfratz, René Klaus. Sound: Felix Hassenfratz. Editing: Carina Mergens, Felix Hassenfratz. Production: ifs internationale filmschule köln gmbh. Producer: Felix Hassenfratz.
ERIC BROOKS - VERSUCH EINES PORTRAITS
Deutschland 2006 – Director: Markus Sehr – Original language: German – Length: 14 min.
"Good evening, my name is Eric Brooks, I am a multifaceted personality."
Whether as a painter, photographer or musician, Eric Brooks has no doubts about his own creativity. Essentially, the highest of all arts is that of making business from it. Well, at least that's what Eric Brook thinks. The fact that the self-proclaimed life artist sells software articles in "real life" and is always broke doesn't really matter. He's weird but not a freak. Varnish, leather and pictures of naked women in explicit poses are his passions, the source of his inspiration and a part of his "life art". He dreams of a big breakthrough.
All in all, he's a nice guy, who probably hasn’t had an easy life. And even when he's broke again, he never gives up. After all, his motto is: "Victory or Siberia". He would never undersell himself. He'd rather work at a construction site or depend on social welfare. Eric Brooks is someone who aims to be exciting, who gives the film crew instructions so as to make his staged performance as enthralling as possible. Humour, casualness and gravity meet in this gentle attempt at an unconventional portrait.Camera: Gunar Peters. Sound: Daniel Siegel. Editing: Markus Sehr. Production: ifs internationale filmschule köln gmbh. Producer: Markus Sehr.
