How much would you pay to realise your dreams? For the American millionaire Anousheh Ansari the answer is 20 million dollars for a nine-day trip into space. Meanwhile, the men whose dream is to find the remnants of the rocket stages in the expanse of the Kazakh Steppe remain tight-lipped. The young scientist Dumitru Popescu hopes to reach the stratosphere on his own steam and with his idiosyncratic, prize-winning inventions he believes that he is on the right track. In five very different, but interwoven episodes, Christian Frei skilfully negotiates mankind’s eternal dream of life in outer space, revealing that the attempts to realise this dream here on earth are sometimes as unfathomable as the universe itself.
