“When I look at the houses down there, I know who lives in every one of them.” Rural practitioner, Dr Rosenberger, looks down from the top of a hill in his village in Lower Bavaria. Through his home visits and emergency call outs – in between stopping off at the tavern for a couple of rounds of Schafkopf - we get acquainted with his patients: the farmers, business people and lumberjacks who are residents, neighbours and friends in equal measure. And naturally we also get to know their doctor who, with his empathetic manner, makes a rare improvement to people’s quality of life in the province. He offers the luxury of personal care that places individuals at its heart and, after 22 years of practicing, he thinks now only of his patients and no longer of the public finances. Despite being packed full of illness and suffering, this Lower Bavarian documentary has the feel-good factor. Marcus Morlinghaus
