"I cannot imagine what happened here." - Johanna Schneider is in Hiroshima to report on the city’s memories of the atomic bomb attack. She discovers that life here is completely untouched by the past. The city is intact, the trees have grown tall, and people are getting on with their lives. There are no reminders of the devastation of 6th August 1945. When Johanna meets survivors of the catastrophe the memories she finds are dramatic but how people can live with them remains a mystery to her.
Using a mixture of dramatized scenes and real encounters, AUGUST is a moving film about the remembrance of a catastrophe. Hiroshima, mon amour. Dunja Bialas
