Their family relationships and life stories have many similarities: experiences of violence and cold, disinterested or overly strict parents; drug taking and dropping out of school. And yet, above all, the personalities and the individual talents of the protagonists take centre stage. Aesthetically lit and photographed in fine black and white in an empty studio the former street kids look like popstars._Impressively Maria Speth has captured intimate, vulnerable moments in which the resilience of the young people begins to shine through.
