Elena Todorova

Alëna Todorova is a film director, screenwriter, and researcher. She graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow with a degree in Fiction Film Directing in 2022. During her studies, she made three short films. Alongside her studies, she worked at Memorial, the Russian historical and human rights organisation. Since 2022, she has been based in Germany, working in film -- including as co-author of two documentary films. As part of the Jugend erinnert programme, she directed an educational animated film for the Berlin-Karlshorst Museum and the NS-Dokumentationszentrum München. She also teaches directing, dramaturgy, and film history to children and non-professional adults.
