Idil Akkus

Idil Akkus is an independent director and film editor based in Istanbul. After she received her bachelor's degree from Istanbul University, Department of Radio, Cinema and Television she started to work as an editor primarily for television series and documentaries. Her first feature film DUET (2022), which she co-directed, co-produced and edited, had its world premiere at the IndieCork Film Festival and screened at various international festivals. Duet received the Special Jury Prize at the 59th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Special Mention at the 42nd Istanbul Film Festival, Best Editing and Johan Van Der Keuken New Talent Award at 16th Documentarist Istanbul. As a filmmaker, she focuses on gender politics, forms of governance, social struggle, women's and LGBTIQ+ rights. She is currently developing her new feature documentary.
