Hendrik Löbbert (*1979, Bonn) studied documentary film, photography and video art in Weimar and Montreal. In 2015, Grenzbock was his first feature documentary as writer and director together with Wüstefilm and Arte and supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. In 2014, he founded the independent production company non fiction society with Klaus Neumann-Ege in Berlin and together they realized various science documentaries for ZDF/3sat, among others. Hendrik received the DEFA scholarship (2011 for GRENZBOCK) and the Gerd Ruge scholarship (2015 for PENNYLAND).
