Paul Sonntag

Paul Sonntag (*1991 in Berlin) works as a cinematographer and filmmaker. His cinematography has been shown at Neue Nationalgalerie during Berlin Art Week, Kunsthalle Basel, Salzburger Kunstverein as well as Toronto International Film Festival Next Wave, Kurzfilmtage Winterthur and Recontres Internationales. Trained as an architect and photographer in New York, he went on to study cinematography at Filmakademie BW, with semesters abroad at FAMU, Prague, and La FÉMIS, Paris. 2025 he completed the diploma exams in cinematography as well as documentary directing. During his studies, he received an scholarship from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, was part of CPH:DOX Academy+ and named an industry talent at Tallinn Black Nights.
