WER BIN ICH? SCHLESISCHE LEBENSLÄUFE
Deutschland 2004 – Director: Andrzej Klamt – Original language: deutsch, polnisch – Subtitles: German – Length: 71 min.
"If someone asks me: 'Who are you?', I must really think before answering. Although I live in Germany more than 20 years, I cannot just answer 'I am German'. Usually I find my temporary response spontaneously, basing on the present mood.
I am born in Poland, but I am Silesian.
My film presents lives of three people from Silesia. Most of their ways are typical for the inhabitants of the border zone. Silesians basing on their 'empiric experience' made themselves flexible, which is described by many as an 'opportunism'.
Especially nowadays, in the time, where mobility and freedom to be individual seems to make the idea of native country identity obsolete, the theme of own roots becomes for many people more and more demanding and interesting." (Andrzej Klamt)
