WEIL DER MENSCH EIN MENSCH IST
Deutschland 2007 – Director: Frauke Finsterwalder und Stephan Hilpert – Co-Director: Stephan Hilpert – Original language: German – Subtitles: English – Length: 60 min.
Not always the most popular of boys, Nils felt he had really made it when he was voted by the other kids in his youth group to be their representative during their summer holiday camp. But as group dynamics came into play and little disputes, rebellions and struggles for power and status emerged in the micro-society of the camp-site, Nils' position began to look shaky. So came Nils' downfall and the end of the political career of a boy who had always been committed to socialist ideals. That summer Nils learned that it was the boys who made out with the cool girls that made it quicker to the top of the social pile. This is a film about love and group bonding, about French kisses and Full Moon parties, and the painful bullying, scheming and territorialism that comes with camp life.
