WE DON'T CARE ABOUT MUSIC ANYWAY...
France 2009 – Director: Cedric Dupire & Gaspard Kuentz – Co-Director: Gaspard Kuentz – Original language: Japanese – Subtitles: English – Length: 80 min.
A wild symphony of sound reverberates throughout Tokyo. Eight young musicians from the Japanese Noise-acoustic-electro scene are pioneering new forms of musical expression. They find their material in the scrapyards and ruined buildings of the big city. They make music from an electronically enhanced heartbeat or by slamming the endpin of a cello into a windowpane until the strings vibrate. They belong to the “Game Over” generation. Their instruments range from the Akai S2000 to the humble guitar. The main thing is that the music must be loud! The directors unite images of the metropolis with the avant-garde musical onslaught in an impressive soundscape. This film is not a film about music - it is music!
