An eight-metre-high hybrid artwork made from a yellow bronze teddy bear and a bedside lamp, is enthroned on a mound. This is typical of the work of the Swiss artist Urs Fischer, which often plays with our perception of everyday things._Urs Fischer is a superstar of the contemporary art scene. He looks like a beefy rock’n’roller with countless tattoos and his attitude could be described as humorously bizarre. The 36-year-old only rarely appears in public. Iwan Schumacher gives us an insight into the artist’s working practices and chronicles the development of his large solo exhibition that opened in New York in October 2009._A portrait of an internationally successful pop artist and an informative glimpse into the globalised art market from Shanghai to Sydney, Zurich and New York.
