UNFINISHED ITALY
ITA 2010 – Director: Benoit Felici – Original language: Italian – Subtitles: English, French, German, Italian – Length: 33 min.
“That’s what’s known as a criminal use of cement,” remarks one of this film’s contributors on the impulsive actions of Italian politicians that mean that building projects such as the polo stadium are instigated but never brought to a close. This is symptomatic of today’s Italy – the stage is set for countless unfinished building projects. In quietly contemplative images the film shows bizarre places such as a garden on a bridge and other public places that have been stuck half-finished and, in the meantime, have partly been put to new use – emblematic of this is the architecture project known as “Unfinished Sicily.”_A search for traces of incompleteness that sheds new light on the essence of things.
