“I am documenting a way of life that most people are unaware of.” Ragnar Axelsson’s photography depicts the end of the world. The artist, who goes by the name of RAX, is drawn to the arctic regions of Iceland and Greenland. In addition to the hostile landscape, he portrays the people whose existence depends on living in harmony with their natural environment. His black and white shots have an immediacy that encapsulates the threat facing their subject matter – because through climate change the things he captures will gradually disappear. Sigurðsson’s film about Iceland’s most well-known photographer is impressive, not least because of the tragedy that lies behind the beauty in his images. Samay Claro

Ragnar Axelsson will be present at the screening.
In cooperation with Münchner Volkshochschule and the Münchner Stadtbibliothek.
