SPIELZEIT
Deutschland 2003 – Director: Korinna Krauss – Original language: German – Length: 10 min.
Korinna Krauss takes a look behind the scenes of the Munich Gärtnerplatz theatre in the district of Isarvorstadt. With 320 performances and 200 000 guests per season, there is a lot to do, not only on stage but also backstage, not only during the performance but before and after too. From stage director to make-up artist, from wardrobe designer and light and sound director to office worker, everyone is working hard to ensure that each performance goes off smoothly.
During the performance, they all have a well-deserved rest at the company canteen. After the curtain has fallen, everything must be taken down, packed away and the lights must be turned off and the theatre closed until the next season.
“- Are you done? Gerhard, are you closing?
- I’m closing. That’s it.”
